Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is set to visit Islamabad to engage in the Sixth Round of the China-Pakistan Foreign Ministers' Strategic Dialogue, from August 20-22. This significant diplomatic event occurs amid Islamabad's move to recalibrate its relationships with major global powers, including strategic rival the United States.
Mao Ning, spokesperson for China's Foreign Ministry, affirmed that the dialogue with Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar represents a continuation of Sino-Pakistan high-level exchanges, reinforcing support on core interests and boosting economic and trade cooperation. The talks will further affirm both nations' commitment to peace and regional stability.
Despite Pakistan's recent overtures to the US, including high-profile meetings involving military leaders, China reassures that its historical ties with Pakistan remain solid. Wang's diplomatic itinerary, which also includes discussions with Indian officials, underscores China's intent on maintaining constructive relations with both South Asian neighbours.
