Kerala MLA Resigns Amidst Misconduct Allegations

In a significant political development, Rahul Mamkootathil, a Congress MLA from Kerala, has resigned from his position as the state Youth Congress president. This move follows allegations of misconduct from actress Rini Ann George, which have ignited protests from BJP and CPI(M) youth wings.

During a press conference held at his Adoor residence, Mamkootathil revealed that no senior Congress leaders demanded his resignation. He maintained that the allegations lack substantiation and reiterated his respect for the law and his political responsibilities.

Mamkootathil's resignation aims to prevent distracting Congress at a time of substantial protests against the state government. Although he remains firm in his stance of innocence, he refrained from further comments on the issue post-announcement.
