Arvind Kejriwal, leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), announced his support for B Sudarshan Reddy's vice-presidential candidacy following a meeting on Thursday. Kejriwal praised Reddy's impartial record as a former Supreme Court judge, calling him a suitable choice for the constitutional role.
Reddy, having filed his nomination earlier in the day, met Kejriwal at his residence. Kejriwal highlighted the urgent need to support Reddy, urging voters to set aside party loyalties in favor of Reddy's capabilities and judicial expertise.
In contrast, the NDA has put forth Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan for the same position, with 391 votes needed for a majority from an electoral college of 781. The race promises to be significant, given the NDA's numerical advantage.
