Tensions between student groups NSUI and ABVP erupted into a clash at Delhi University's Kirori Mal College on Tuesday, coinciding with the final day of campaigning for the Delhi University Students' Union elections.

The altercation unfolded shortly ahead of Uttar Pradesh Congress president Ajay Rai's scheduled campus visit to bolster NSUI candidates' campaigns.

In a statement, NSUI accused ABVP, the RSS-affiliated student wing, of targeting its Purvanchal supporters to sabotage their event. The ABVP had yet to respond to these allegations. Responding to the event, Ajay Rai reassured students of his support via a video message, underscoring ABVP's fear and NSUI's growing backing.

Following the clash, police were stationed at the college as a preventative measure. DUSU elections are planned for September 18, with votes counted the following day.
