On Tuesday, the Israeli military initiated airstrikes in the Yemeni city of Hodeida, targeting the Houthi rebels' military infrastructure backed by Iran. Israeli military sources reported that the strikes aimed at disrupting the transportation of weaponry facilitated by the Iranian regime through the Hudaydah Port.
Houthi spokesperson Yayha Saree stated that the group's air defenses engaged Israeli aircraft, causing disarray and subsequently forcing some to retreat. This development comes amidst continued Israeli strikes in Yemen, following a drone breach over Israel that resulted in injuries and extensive damage.
Among the casualties of the recent strikes were 31 Yemeni journalists, leading to criticism from international observers. Human Rights Watch emphasized the vulnerabilities that journalists face in such conflict zones, further compounded by censorship and restricted information flow in rebel-held territories.
