A minor boy and a young man sustained injuries after a portion of ceiling plaster collapsed at a house in a 30-year-old building in Maharashtra's Thane city on Wednesday morning. The incident, which occurred at approximately 6.45 am at Sai Mamta Building in Wagle Estate, has raised concerns over structural safety.
Classified as a C2B category building in need of repairs, Sai Mamta's partial collapse took place while some family members were asleep, according to Thane's disaster management cell head, Yasin Tadvi. The 11-year-old boy and the 22-year-old man were injured as a result.
The four-storey building, with 12 residential units and an additional terrace room, is an aging structure requiring immediate attention, officials noted. The incident has been reported to municipal authorities for necessary action and structural assessments to prevent further risks.
