AIADMK General Secretary and Leader of the Opposition in Tamil Nadu assembly, Edappadi K Palaniswami, launched a scathing attack on the DMK for their alleged political double standards during a press conference in the Salem district. Palaniswami criticized the DMK for embracing leaders they once opposed after attaining power, calling their actions contradictory.
Palaniswami further asserted that the BJP will not meddle in AIADMK's internal issues, amid calls within the AIADMK for reunification with the Sasikala faction. He emphasized that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured no interference in AIADMK's affairs, and strict action will be taken against any party discipline violations.
Palaniswami also rebutted AMMK leader TTV Dhinakaran's allegations, recalling former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's decision to expel Dhinakaran in 2011. Palaniswami clarified that his demand for awarding Bharat Ratna to freedom fighter Muthuramalinga Thevar was unrelated to Dhinakaran's statements. As AIADMK allies with BJP for the 2026 Tamil Nadu elections, Palaniswami praised BJP's support post-Jayalalithaa and criticized DMK's governance failures.
