The Madras High Court has refused the anticipatory bail applications of two high-ranking officials from actor Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) following a devastating stampede at a party rally in Karur. The tragedy, occurring on September 27, left 41 individuals dead and 60 others injured.

The court's decision targeted TVK's state general secretary, Bussy N Anand, and deputy general secretary, CTR Nirmal Kumar, who were implicated in the incident as noted in the FIR. Their pleas were brought before Justice M Jothiraman.

This ruling marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crowd surge at the political assembly.
