Union Home Minister Amit Shah convened with Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and deputies Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar in Shirdi, according to BJP sources on Sunday.
The 45-minute meeting late on Saturday focused on the severe crop losses caused by recent heavy rains and deliberated on urgent financial aid for the distressed farmers. The leaders also assessed ongoing development projects and other key administrative issues, as per sources.
Shah had arrived in Shirdi's Ahilyanagar district on Saturday night to meet the leaders at a local hotel. Due to extensive unseasonal downpour leading to widespread agricultural destruction in multiple districts, calls for immediate government intervention are rising. A significant relief package for the affected farmers is expected to be announced shortly.
