Governor's Criticism Sparks Economic and Political Tensions

Speaking at an event in Gujrat district, Governor Haider criticized countries that back the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). The UAE's decision not to roll over the debt has notably reduced Pakistan's foreign reserves, raising concerns over import coverage and compliance with the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) programme. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia's commitment to deposit USD 3 billion into Pakistan's economy offers some respite amidst these challenges.
