In a scathing rebuke, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge intensified his criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of misusing government machinery to stifle opposition voices and 'terrorise' the foundations of democracy.
Kharge, addressing a press conference in Chennai alongside AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal, clarified remarks where he likened Modi to a 'terrorist', emphasizing that the intended meaning was about the Prime Minister 'terrorising' the political landscape rather than being a literal terrorist.
Questioning the delay in implementing the Women's Reservation Bill, now the Naari Shakthi Adhiniyam 2023, Kharge expressed skepticism towards the intentions behind the Act's notification at an unsociable hour, April 16. He warned that the impending delimitation could disadvantage progressive and southern states, accusing the government of punishing success in population control.
