U.S. Considers Financial Aid and Currency Swap with UAE
President Trump revealed that the U.S. might provide financial assistance and a currency swap to the United Arab Emirates. In talks, UAE's central bank governor discussed potential support options with U.S. Treasury officials, considering possible economic fallout due to regional conflicts.
President Trump announced on Tuesday that the United States is contemplating financial assistance for the United Arab Emirates, in addition to considering a currency swap with the oil-rich nation.
In an interview with CNBC, Trump affirmed the possibility of a currency swap, highlighting the UAE as a valued ally led by 'incredible people,' and expressed surprise at the need given their wealthy status.
Amid ongoing regional tensions, notably involving Iran, the Wall Street Journal reported discussions between the UAE's central bank governor and U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent along with Federal Reserve officials about establishing a currency swap line as a precautionary measure.
