The state of Kerala was rocked by a tragic incident on Tuesday as a powerful explosion occurred at a fireworks manufacturing unit in Thrissur district, resulting in the loss of 13 lives. Political leaders across major parties came forward to express their grief and extend their condolences to the bereaved families.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan immediately responded by directing officials to provide comprehensive medical assistance to the injured while ensuring coordinated rescue and relief operations. Fellow CPI(M) leader M V Govindan highlighted that effective interventions have been initiated, coordinating the police, fire, rescue, and health departments while urging public and party workers' support.
Union Minister Suresh Gopi and state BJP president Rajeev Chandrasekhar, as well as Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, echoed the sentiment of shock and called for rigorous investigation into the cause of this disaster. Nearly 40 people were present at the site during the explosion, with several seriously injured at the event which was part of preparations for the upcoming Thrissur Pooram festival.
