In a significant legal development, authorities on Friday invoked the stringent National Security Act (NSA) against the manager of a firecracker factory in Madhya Pradesh's Dewas district, following a deadly explosion that claimed five lives. Stringent legal measures have been instigated against the owner and three others involved.
The blast, which erupted in the Tonk Kalan area on Thursday, resulted in a fire that killed five labourers and injured 23 others. The licensed factory owner, Anil Malviya, alongside manager Ajaas Khan, has been detained under the National Security Act, complicating their bail prospects.
A comprehensive probe has been launched, involving a three-member committee to examine safety lapses. Meanwhile, the Central government and forensic science teams are also investigating. The state government has announced financial assistance for victims' families and medical care for the injured.
