In a bold assertion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that May 4 will mark the end of the Trinamool Congress's 15-year 'syndicate system' and 'maha jungle raj' in West Bengal. Modi's comments, made during a gathering at South 24 Pargana district's Kakdwip stadium, were aimed at rallying support for the BJP in the state.
The Prime Minister pointed to the massive poll turnout as a sign of dwindling influence for the TMC, whose regime of 'bhoy' (fear) is being overtaken by the 'bharosa' (trust) promised by the BJP. Listing alleged failures of the TMC government, Modi cited broken promises in infrastructure development, including an unbuilt bridge to Sagar Island and stalled flood prevention projects under the Ghatal Master plan.
Modi accused the TMC of obstructing central development initiatives and of collaborating with the Congress to derail the BJP's planned women's reservation in legislatures. He announced promises of financial aid for South Bengal fisherfolk and a zero-tolerance policy for infiltrators if the BJP comes to power.
