Tamil Nadu has witnessed a historic voter turnout of 85.15% in its recent elections across 234 Assembly segments, marking the highest in the state's history. According to Election Commission (EC) figures, the districts of Karur and Salem led with over 90% voter participation.
While Karur district recorded a turnout of 92.63%, Salem followed with 90.76%. In contrast, Kanniyakumari district noted the lowest turnout at 75.61%. In Chennai, the Perambur constituency, where TVK leader Vijay contested, reported the highest voter percentage of 89.73%, compared to other city constituencies.
As the state awaits election results due on May 4, political dynamics heat up with the DMK aiming to maintain power, challenging the AIADMK-led coalition. Actor Vijay's TVK is a noteworthy competitor, seeking to upend the historical DMK-AIADMK governance pattern.
