MAHARASHTRA—Social activist Anna Hazare has spoken out following the surprising exit of Raghav Chadha and six other Rajya Sabha members from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). On Friday, Hazare said this would not have happened if the party had adhered to the 'right' principles, suggesting internal disputes prompted the departure.

Earlier, in a joint press conference, Chadha and Sandeep Pathak announced their resignation from the Arvind Kejriwal-led party, declaring their decision to join the BJP. Chadha claimed nearly two-thirds of AAP's Rajya Sabha members have parted ways, criticizing the party's current trajectory.

Hazare reiterated that this division signifies deeper issues within the party. He argued that if AAP had been moving in the 'right direction,' such resignations would not occur. The exodus is viewed as a substantial setback for AAP since its establishment in 2012, which initially gathered momentum from Hazare's own anti-corruption movement.
