In a twist to the ongoing political drama, Kerala's former Director General of Police, R Sreelekha, has been named as an accused in a case stemming from a BJP protest. Sreelekha, now a BJP councillor, led a gathering criticizing alleged police brutalities against party workers.
The protest, which took place at Vattiyoorkavu, saw Sreelekha inaugurating the event and chanting slogans perceived as derogatory towards the police force she once served. Initially, she was not named as an accused, a decision that sparked public outcry and criticism from various quarters.
Faced with growing pressure, the police filed a revised report, implicating Sreelekha and 14 others. Among the accused is Deputy Mayor Asha Nath, bringing attention once more to political tensions within the state. Despite the allegations, Sreelekha insists on her commitment to integrity, citing her history of challenging police misconduct.
