In a powerful demonstration of political dissent, the BJP on Saturday organized the 'Mahila Aakrosh March' in Ranchi, with Union Minister Annapurna Devi leading the charge against what they perceive as the Congress-led opposition's obstruction of women's reservation legislation in legislatures.
The protest, which began at Morabadi Ground and concluded at Albert Ekka Chowk, saw BJP workers vociferously raising slogans against Congress and JMM leaders, accusing them of undermining women's rights. Prominent figures such as State BJP president Aditya Sahu and former chief ministers Arjun Munda, Babulal Marandi, and Madhu Koda were in attendance, signaling the gravity of the event.
Addressing the gathered crowd, Devi criticized the INDIA bloc's stance during the Lok Sabha's three-day special session, which she claimed revealed an anti-women mindset. She argued that the opposition's resistance to the women's reservation bill, a historic legislation seeking to ensure 33% representation for women, underscored their disregard for women's rights. The rally served not merely as a protest but as an emphatic call for women's dignity and empowered participation in governance.
