Heightening his criticism against the central government, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi took aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, accusing them of persistently targeting him. Addressing a rally in South 24 Parganas prior to West Bengal's second polling phase, Gandhi asserted his resilience against attempts to silence his voice.
Gandhi detailed multiple grievances against Modi, including losing his government house and enduring 55 hours of interrogation, asserting he remains undeterred. He also accused Modi of compromising India's trade and data in deals with the U.S., suggesting external pressure on the Prime Minister.
Further, Gandhi criticized both the BJP's and TMC's governance, highlighting the negative impact of policies like demonetization and GST on small traders. He accused CM Mamata Banerjee of industry destruction in Bengal, asserting corruption within her administration and unfulfilled employment promises. His remarks followed the first phase of high-turnout polling in West Bengal.
