Trump Halts Envoys' Pakistan Trip Amid Iran Talks
President Donald Trump decided against sending US envoys to Pakistan to negotiate with Iran, emphasizing that they can initiate contact anytime. Trump, in a Fox News interview, stated the US holds a strong position, following the White House's announcement of intended negotiations in Pakistan.
President Donald Trump has announced that he instructed American envoys not to travel to Pakistan for negotiation talks with Iran. The news came during a phone interview with Fox News, where Trump remarked, ''They can call us anytime they want.''
He specifically directed US negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to avoid long flights for discussions Trump deemed fruitless, emphasizing, ''You're not going to be making any more 18-hour flights to sit around talking about nothing.''
The comments followed a White House notice that had previously outlined plans for Witkoff and Kushner to engage in direct talks with Iran in Pakistan.
