The Leh Apex Body (LAB) is pressing for direct discussions with Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his visit next week, expressing dissatisfaction with a forthcoming sub-committee meeting scheduled for May 22. LAB deems the meeting insufficient to address the region's longstanding issues effectively.
Prominent figures like climate activist Sonam Wangchuk and LAB's co-chairman Chering Dorjay are advocating for meaningful dialogue during Shah's visit. They insist the discussions involve actual decision-making authorities to avoid further delays in resolving issues that have lingered for years.
LAB, aligned with the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA), stresses that the upcoming visit offers a crucial opportunity to foster trust and make decisions. They emphasize the urgency for direct talks to address their four-point agenda, including statehood and constitutional safeguards for Ladakh.
