EU Stands Firm on Iran Sanctions

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has firmly stated that sanctions against Iran should remain in place. Speaking in Berlin, she emphasized that it is 'too early' to lift the measures.

During a meeting with members of the conservative CDU and its Bavarian counterpart, CSU, Von der Leyen highlighted that the sanctions were enacted in response to Iran's oppressive treatment of its citizens.

She underlined the necessity for a 'fundamental change' within Iran as a prerequisite for any reconsideration of the sanctions policy. Her comments reflect the EU's stance on maintaining pressure until Iran shows significant progress.
