Aung San Suu Kyi: From Prison to House Arrest
Myanmar's former leader Aung San Suu Kyi has been moved from prison to house arrest, as announced by state television. Suu Kyi, detained since the military coup on February 1, 2021, was originally sentenced to 33 years in prison, facing charges widely seen as politically motivated.
Myanmar's former leader Aung San Suu Kyi has recently transitioned from prison incarceration to house arrest, according to an announcement made on state television Thursday night.
The information, accompanied by a photo showing Suu Kyi seated with two unidentified men, was disseminated in a brief text by the Military Information Team.
Suu Kyi, detained since the 2021 coup, had faced multiple charges, leading to a 33-year sentence, believed by many to be a political strategy to hinder her return to power.
