Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge clarified on Friday that no date has been set for discussions about a potential leadership change in Karnataka, amid speculation about a power struggle between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar.
In a press briefing, Kharge stressed that any leadership decision would be made collectively by the party's high command, which includes Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, after thorough consultation. Kharge assured that Congress maintains an extensive consultative process before making strategic decisions.
Reiterating party discipline, Kharge insisted that any resolution regarding leadership changes would be in Karnataka's best interest, and binding on members. Speculation continues as Shivakumar's visit to Delhi raised eyebrows, despite Siddaramaiah's commitment to a full term unless the party decides otherwise.
