In anticipation of the upcoming vote count, West Bengal's ruling Trinamool Congress, spearheaded by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, will convene a virtual briefing for counting agents. The meeting is scheduled two days before the counting results.
This virtual session aims to prepare agents from the 291 constituencies where TMC candidates are contesting, offering guidance on their responsibilities and the counting process. The move is part of TMC's strategy to maintain stringent vigilance during the count, which takes place on May 4.
Tensions were palpable as TMC alleges possible malpractice involving electronic voting machines. In response, Mamata Banerjee urged a vigilant watch on EVMs amid heightened party and police presence around strong rooms storing the machines. TMC's proactive stance underscores their focus on ensuring transparency and integrity in the electoral process.
