BJP Member of Parliament Rahul Sinha has called for legal action against Trinamool Congress (TMC) General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee. The demand comes after allegations that Banerjee made inflammatory speeches during the West Bengal Assembly election campaign, contributing to political unrest.
Sinha, speaking to ANI, suggested that Banerjee should process his disappointment with the election outcome privately, as the BJP secured a groundbreaking victory, ending the TMC's 15-year dominion. An FIR has been lodged over Banerjee's language used before and after the elections, with Sinha insisting on subsequent legal proceedings.
Following the FIR, West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh also criticized TMC leadership, including Banerjee and former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing them of years of tyrannical rule. Public readiness to report grievances and police willingness to act are seen as pathways to justice. The FIR charges Banerjee with using social media to deliver provocative remarks at several rallies, potentially inciting violence and disturbing public peace.
