In a heated political exchange, West Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya criticized the TMC for seeking a Supreme Court intervention regarding the involvement of state employees in vote counting. Bhattacharya accused the ruling TMC of accepting electoral defeat ahead of the West Bengal assembly polls in 2026.
He claimed that, having previously been barred from voting, many exercised their rights fearlessly, indicating a shift away from the TMC. Bhattacharya further alleged that TMC workers are attempting to intrude on the counting process despite acknowledging the party's defeat.
In response, TMC leader Kunal Ghosh accused the BJP of attempting to manipulate the counting process. This exchange took place as locals in Falta protested intimidation from TMC cadres. Amid high security and voter turnout in South 24 Parganas, tensions continue to rise, laying the groundwork for a contentious election outcome.
