In an uncontested bypoll, BJP senior leader Arvind Sharma has secured a seat in the Bihar legislative council. This election followed the resignation of former state minister Mangal Pandey.
Pandey vacated the council berth after successfully winning an assembly seat from Siwan in the 2025 elections. Sharma, who was appointed in charge of the BJP's state headquarters, received his election certificate from Returning Officer Chhote Lal Paswan promptly at 3 pm when the nomination withdrawal period ended.
The veteran leader, who holds significant responsibilities within the party, was brought into the position two years ago under the guidance of the then BJP state unit head, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.
