Kerala's assembly likewise embraced Muslim representation, electing 35 Muslims out of 140 total seats, with the Congress-led UDF securing 30 of these positions. As broader historical shifts took place, the BJP gained significant ground in West Bengal and Assam, while Tamil Nadu saw a surprise upset from Vijay's TVK party, reshaping political dynamics in these regions.
