In a surprising political move, the Congress party declared its support for actor-politician Vijay's Tamil Viduthalai Kazhagam (TVK) in the endeavor to form a government in Tamil Nadu, subsequently ending its long-standing partnership with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).
The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee and the Congress Legislature Party reciprocated TVK chief Vijay's request for support, providing it with the condition that no communal forces will be part of the new alliance. Girish Chodankar, AICC Tamil Nadu in-charge, emphasized this stance in a public statement.
Promising to revive the influential legacy of Perunthalaivar Kamaraj and honor Thanthai Periyar's and Dr. Ambedkar's ideals, the Congress-TVK alliance aims to strengthen Tamil Nadu's political landscape. The coalition looks to not only form the current government but also lay the groundwork for future electoral battles in various governmental bodies.
