Congress Contemplates Alliance with Vijay's TVK Amid Political Shuffles
Senior Congress leader Karti Chidambaram revealed there were internal discussions about allying with Vijay's TVK before the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Despite these talks, Congress chose to maintain its alliance with DMK to preserve their longstanding relationship and pursue a secular government. Congress confirmed its support for TVK's government formation.

Amidst the political maneuvers in Tamil Nadu, Senior Congress leader Karti Chidambaram disclosed that some party members had proposed a partnership with Vijay's TVK prior to the state assembly elections held on April 23.
Even though discussions on teaming up with TVK occurred, the party leadership, after thorough consultations, opted to stick with its time-tested ally, DMK, emphasizing the need for a secular government without compromising its principles.
With TVK securing 108 seats in the 234-member legislature, Karti confirmed Congress's support for Vijay's government. However, he clarified that the currently existing alliance with DMK is strictly electoral.
