Kerala's political landscape witnessed a significant transformation as Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar officially dissolved the state's 15th legislative assembly. This decisive action followed the Congress-led United Democratic Front's (UDF) impressive election victory.
The UDF secured 102 seats out of 140 in the April 9 assembly polls, marking a substantial triumph over the Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF), which only managed 35 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), although winning just three seats, gained a foothold in the region.
Pinarayi Vijayan, the Marxist veteran, stepped down from his position as Chief Minister following the election results, signifying the end of a significant era in Kerala's political narrative.
