Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has praised the communal harmony evident in the recent Kerala Assembly elections. The leader pointed to the state's inclination to transcend caste and religion when electing leaders.
Tharoor's comments come after the assembly elections results, which saw constituencies elect candidates across religious lines. His observations presented a narrative dubbed the 'Kerala story,' counteracting the more negative portrayals like the controversial film 'The Kerala Story.'
Tharoor, the MP from Thiruvananthapuram, later addressed critiques about the lack of a Hindu candidate elected in a Muslim-majority constituency by noting Sandeep Varier's win in Trikaripur. The Congress-led UDF, which VE Abdul Gafoor's IUML is a part of, secured a win with 102 seats in the Kerala Assembly.
