BJP Clashes with Congress Over Modi's Austerity Call Amid West Asia Conflict

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has hit back at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi following his criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent call for austerity amid ongoing conflicts in West Asia. The BJP accused Congress of prioritizing political power over nation-building efforts.

Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, had argued that Modi's appeal to the public to adopt certain austere measures—such as energy conservation and reduced foreign travel—was evidence of governmental failure. In response, BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi stressed the need for collective national efforts in securing India's future amidst global crises.

BJP representatives emphasized that the government's recommendations were aimed at strengthening the country's economic and energy security. Furthermore, they stated that the opposition was attempting to gain political mileage by creating confusion and instability. Citing historical examples, BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya reinforced the idea that strong leadership includes asking citizens to take part in national initiatives during challenging times.
