Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Friday said that now it is not just about saving the election process, it is about saving the country. Yadav alleged that the BJP was against the country even before Independence and is against it even now. In a statement issued here by the party, Yadav said, ''Dear countrymen, after coming to West Bengal and learning about the massive rigging and dishonesty in the elections, it felt that now it is not just about saving the election process, it is about saving the country.'' ''Today, the country has fallen into the wrong hands of those who are hardcore opposers of the Constitution, democracy, reservation, freedom, equality, justice, dignity, unity-integrity of the country, harmony, respect of women, rights of the youth, farmers, labourers, the exploited, the deprived, the poor, and the PDA's present and future.'' He added that countrymen have to understand which people take money from abroad while talking about Swadeshi. He asked why the BJP ''plotted'' to destroy small businesses through demonetisation, accusing it of ''corrupting the banking system''. The former UP chief minister also accused the BJP of ruining the country's economy by deliberately making GST ''complicated and corrupt''. ''Those who claim to be 'Vishwa Guru' have fled to various countries. Why aren't these people bringing back the country's plunderers? Why do they want to break the nation's unity by spreading the poison of communalism? Why are they bent on destroying the country's political system by breaking up political parties? ''Now, the decisive time has come when we must all unite to defeat these negative and anti-national forces forever, save the country, and raise the tricolour for the country's new independence,'' Yadav said in the statement.
