The Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, R Ashoka, has launched a scathing critique of the Congress-led state government, accusing it of presiding over a breakdown in law and order. Ashoka cited media reports highlighting mass suspensions and criminal proceedings against police officers under Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's administration.

According to data referenced by Ashoka, 713 police officers have been suspended over two years, with criminal charges lodged against 95, raising serious questions about the system's integrity. "Has the police department lost discipline, morality, and public trust?" asked Ashoka, condemning the police's alleged foray into corrupt activities.

Highlighting Bengaluru's role in this crisis, Ashoka expressed alarm over the city's growing association with corruption, particularly as many suspended officers hail from there. He questioned the brand value of Bengaluru, India's tech hub, amid deteriorating law and order, and warned that continued inaction could spur public backlash against the government.
