In a historic event at the West Bengal Assembly, newly elected legislators, including Chief Minister Sivendu Adhikari, officially took their oaths on Wednesday. The ceremony was overseen by Pro tem Speaker Tapas Roy.
Among the newly appointed state ministers were Agnimitra Paul, Dilip Ghosh, Ashok Kirtania, Kshudiram Tudu, and Nisith Pramanik, all of whom joined the ranks as MLAs in the 294-member House. Adhikari paid homage to B R Ambedkar by offering floral tributes and received a guard of honour on the premises.
Marking the BJP's inaugural victory in the state, Adhikari celebrated his dual triumphs in Bhabanipur and Nandigram. As he assumes the role of chief minister, a key meeting with departmental secretaries is in the agenda, set to unfold at the state secretariat Nabanna at 2 pm.
