In a strategic move, Suvendu Adhikari, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, declared he will continue his service from Bhabanipur, relinquishing his Nandigram constituency, a decision made public on Wednesday. This comes after Adhikari emerged victorious in both constituencies in the latest assembly polls.

Adhikari took his oath as an MLA from Bhabanipur on Wednesday, promising the residents of Nandigram that their development needs will remain a top priority despite his absence as their representative. He emphasized his commitment to fulfilling promises made to Nandigram's populace during his campaign.

Drawing parallels with his past role in supporting Phiroja Bibi, a TMC MLA during 2009-2016, Adhikari assured that his absence would not hinder ongoing projects or future plans for Nandigram. In a closely fought contest, Adhikari outmaneuvered TMC leader Mamata Banerjee in Bhabanipur by a margin of 15,105 votes while securing his Nandigram stronghold over rival Pabitra Kar.
