In the wake of a resounding electoral victory, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday underscored the heightened responsibility his government now bears, after securing 102 seats in the recent assembly elections. Sarma pledged to augment development initiatives to fulfill the promises outlined in BJP's sweeping election manifesto.
Speaking candidly to reporters after offering prayers at Srimanta Sankardeva's birthplace in Batadrava Than, Nagaon district, Sarma emphasized, "With 102 seats, our responsibility increases. We will work harder than we have over the last five years to ensure Assam's development." He highlighted that the commitments in the BJP's 2026 manifesto are more expansive compared to past pledges, reflecting the dynamic post-pandemic environment.
He detailed the government's ambitious projects, including the implementation of a Uniform Civil Code (UCC), job creation, flood mitigation investments, and infrastructure enhancements. Sarma reaffirmed his dedication to aligning state policies with the inclusive vision of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva, pledging prioritization of Batadrava Than's development.
