On Friday, the All India Trinamool Congress launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party over escalating fuel prices, accusing the BJP of backpedaling on electoral promises in West Bengal. In a social media post, Trinamool questioned the efficacy of BJP's assurances to the state's populace.

The post mockingly asked, 'Kya huaaa, tera vaadaaaaa??!', criticizing Suvendu Adhikari for allegedly reneging on commitments made to Bengal residents. The party highlighted petrol and diesel price hikes, drawing comparisons between rates in Delhi and Kolkata, to underscore perceived governance inconsistencies.

This backlash follows a nationwide increase in fuel prices by Rs 3 per litre, attributed to the ongoing geopolitical tension in West Asia, primarily between the US-Israel and Iran, which has significantly disrupted global oil supplies. Despite this, the Indian government maintains that fuel reserves are sufficient and stable nationwide.
