National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah raised concerns over the delayed restoration of Jammu and Kashmir's statehood during a recent gathering in Anantnag. Highlighting the repeated assurances made to the region's residents, Abdullah called on the Centre to fulfill its commitments, emphasizing that the promises must translate into concrete actions.

Addressing the populace, Abdullah criticized the bureaucratic administration, stating it cannot replace a democratically elected government that resonates with public aspirations and concerns. He pointed out that despite the phase from 2018 to 2024 showcasing the issues with bureaucratic systems, the people have articulated their preferences through the ballot.

Abdullah demanded that full statehood be reinstated immediately, transferring complete power back to elected representatives to ensure governance that is responsive and accountable. He praised the current NC leadership under Omar Abdullah for staying committed to public welfare despite challenges, noting that NC legislators continue to engage closely with the community.
