In a significant overnight escalation, at least four people have died in one of the largest Ukrainian attacks on Russia since the conflict began, local Russian authorities reported. The strikes included a deadly drone hit on a home in Khimki, killing a woman, and the deaths of two men in the village of Pogorelki near Moscow.
Within Moscow, the drone onslaught left at least 12 people injured, predominantly at the entrance of the city's oil refinery, as detailed by Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. The onslaught extended beyond the capital, with another casualty reported in the Belgorod border region.
Russian air defenses responded robustly, destroying a total of 556 drones, as per the defense ministry's statement. This attack underscores a significant spike in tensions between the warring nations and poses questions about future developments in this protracted conflict.
