The capital of Kerala turned into a symbolic 'sea of white' as thousands of UDF supporters descended upon the stadium for the much-awaited swearing-in ceremony. UDF's return marks the end of a decade-long Left rule, celebrated with energetic slogans and spirited displays of loyalty, as attendees donned traditional white khadi.
With high-profile leaders like Mallikarjuna Kharge and the Gandhis attending, security was tight, and traffic regulations were enforced to manage the influx of VIPs and supporters. This momentous occasion marks a political shift and a reinvigorated Congress base in the state.
The assembly polls, held on April 9 and declared on May 4, witnessed UDF securing a significant victory with 102 of 140 seats. The new government looks toward a fresh start, with key political proceedings scheduled throughout May and early June.
