Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of political poaching amid allegations of voter list manipulation. During his address in Patna, Mann criticized the BJP for focusing on defections rather than prioritizing national governance.
Mann's remarks came as preparations for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls are set to begin, igniting political tensions in Punjab. The Electoral Commission's SIR Phase-III will include 16 states and three Union Territories, targeting over 36 crore electors. The exercise has raised concerns over potential voter list tampering.
Adding to his criticism, Mann called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to increase transparency regarding national reserves of gold, petrol, and LPG. His appeal follows Modi's recent call for citizens to adopt sustainable practices and reduce fuel consumption amid uncertainties linked to global conflicts.
