Shiv Sena and BJP: Political Tensions in Thane's Civic Body

In a recent meeting of the Thane Municipal Corporation, tensions flared between the Shiv Sena and its ally, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), though attempts were made to downplay this as mere personal animosity.

The chaos erupted as BJP corporators opposed Sena's move to pass 232 resolutions in bulk, without discussions. Shiv Sena leader Hanumant Jagdale claimed that an unnamed ally was acting like the opposition, as other opposition parties backed the Sena. The internal strife was projected as a personal disagreement by Jagdale, the House leader, though council procedures were pre-decided.

BJP's group leader Mukesh Mokashi refuted allegations, countering with demands for live telecasts of meetings. The Congress and NCP(SP) criticized the situation, calling it a 'staged circus', and demanded more robust civic governance processes.
