Karnataka BJP president B Y Vijayendra on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Congress government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, questioning the rationale behind the government's event in Tumakuru celebrating three years in office.
He charged the administration with ''failing'' on development, agriculture, infrastructure, employment and governance.
The BJP leader was referring to the 'Steering Karnataka towards development' programme in Tumakuru on the eve of the completion of three years of the Congress government in the state.
Addressing reporters in Bengaluru, Vijayendra alleged that the Congress government was attempting to project welfare guarantees as its only achievement and accused it of using the schemes as an electoral strategy.
''For what achievement have you organised this convention? What exactly have you achieved in the last three years?'' Vijayendra asked, while referring to the government's event being promoted as a ''Guarantee Festival''.
According to him, the state government ''failed'' to prioritise roads, irrigation projects, hospitals and schools, and even Bengaluru's pothole problem remained unresolved.
Claiming that the agriculture sector had been neglected, Vijayendra alleged that the government had failed to support farmers during both drought and flood situations.
He also accused the administration of ''failing'' to create employment opportunities despite signing investment MoUs.
''More than 2.5 lakh government posts are lying vacant while unemployed youth are protesting,'' the Shikaripura MLA charged.
The BJP leader also targeted the government over reservation policies, alleging that confusion had been created despite Supreme Court directions.
Pointing to the previous BJP government led by Basavaraj Bommai, he claimed that justice had been ensured for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and nomadic communities during the BJP tenure.
Vijayendra further attacked the Congress government over alleged corruption, referring to the Valmiki Development Corporation case and the MUDA controversy.
''The Chief Minister should have resigned on moral grounds itself when the Valmiki Development Corporation scam came to light,'' he alleged.
He also criticised the government's handling of the education sector, alleging that teacher vacancies had not been filled and that thousands of rural libraries were facing closure.
''More than 40,000 teacher posts remain vacant across the state.''.
Raising concerns over law and order, Vijayendra alleged that criminal activities and drug-related offences had increased in the state and criticised prison administration, claiming inmates were being allowed undue comforts inside jails.
