Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani on Tuesday announced that four major events will be organised as part of the year-long celebrations marking 75 years of the House, officials said.

Devnani said the celebrations would be dedicated to the legislature and showcase the evolution of democracy by bringing together tradition, experience, innovation, women and youth participation.

The programmes, to be held under the 'Amrit Mahotsav', are expected to be grand and historically significant, with invitations proposed to be extended to the president, vice president, prime minister and Lok Sabha speaker.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the executive committee of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (Rajasthan chapter) held at the Assembly here on Tuesday.

According to officials, the first event, scheduled in July, will be a conference of former and current legislators from the first to the 16th Assembly, where key laws, parliamentary traditions and the journey of democracy will be reviewed.

A second event in October will focus on women legislators from across the country, discussing their role in governance, policymaking and administration, along with their experiences and aspirations.

As part of efforts to connect youth with democratic values, a programme will be organised in January where selected students from schools, colleges and universities will participate in a youth parliament after competitions on constitutional awareness.

The year-long celebrations will culminate in an All India Legislative Conclave proposed to be held on Rajasthan Day in 2027, bringing together legislative leaders, Speakers and officials from across the country.

Senior leaders, including Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel, Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully and other members, were present in the meeting.
