More than 20,000 booth-level officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door verification of voter information from June 15 to July 14 as part of the special intensive revision (SIR) exercise in Haryana.
A total of 20,629 BLOs have been appointed to carry out the month-long exercise in the state.
On Wednesday, Haryana's Chief Electoral Officer A Sreenivas urged all recognised parties in the state to appoint booth-level agents (BLA-1 and BLA-2) in the coming week for a ''pure and accurate electoral rolls''.
Sreenivas on Thursday said the CEO's office has received details of 14,520 BLAs, including 6,438 from BJP, 7,704 from Congress, 165 from CPI(M), and the remaining from other political parties.
Briefing reporters here, he said the entire exercise will be carried out in a completely transparent manner.
Notably, BLAs are nominated for specific polling station areas by the recognised political parties to assist and work alongside BLOs, who are appointed by the election authority for the respective polling stations.
BLA-1 is representative of political party at constituency level while BLA-2 is representative of political party at booth level, the CEO said.
Sreenivas has urged the deputy commissioners-cum-district election officers to coordinate with resident welfare associations in such cities as Gurugram, Faridabad, Panchkula, and Sonipat, where a large number of multi-storey residential societies exist, and BLOs are often denied entry.
He directed that RWAs should be instructed to allow BLOs and BLAs access to collect information for the SIR.
Responding to a question, Sreenivas said that no pressure would be created on officials engaged in SIR work and that the exercise would be conducted smoothly.
''What I can guarantee from my office, we will not create pressure. But everyone will have to work. In certain activities like census, elections, SIR, entire administrative system is working for it (involved in the mega exercise),'' he said when asked that there have been a few cases outside Haryana where some BLOs have allegedly faced severe work pressure.
He said that as of May 21, 2026, the total number of registered electors in Haryana stands at 2,06,52,760, while the total number of polling stations is 20,629.
The CEO said that mapping work related to electoral rolls in the state was 64 per cent complete.
He said that electoral mapping of 1,32,51,717 electors has been completed so far, accounting for 64.16 percent of the total electorate.
However, according to laid-down process, nearly 75 lakh notices will be issued in case of those electors whose mapping remains pending.
Among the districts, Fatehabad leads with 86.56 per cent mapping, followed by Charkhi Dadri 82.36 per cent, Sirsa 80.82 per cent, Kaithal 78.59 per cent, Mahendragarh 77.20 per cent, Nuh 77.01 per cent, Bhiwani 76.61 per cent, Yamunanagar 75.81 per cent, Rewari 74.98 per cent, Hisar 73.82 per cent, and Jind 71.93 per cent.
Sreenivas called SIR a complete rehaul of the electoral roll, with no eligible elector left out and no non-eligible electors added.
He stated that assembly constituency-wise help desks, as well as help desks at all district headquarters, would be established to assist voters while the SIR work is carried out.
The last SIR exercise in the state was conducted in 2002.
Under the third phase of the SIR campaign, July 1 has been fixed as the qualifying date for Haryana.
Sreenivas said that in cases where enumeration forms have not been returned, BLOs may identify probable reasons such as ''absent'', ''shifted'', ''dead'', or ''duplicate'' after making inquiries from neighbouring residents and record the same accordingly.
BLOs have been directed to visit each such household at least three times for the collection of enumeration forms.
Sreenivas said that booth-wise lists of electors whose names are not included in the draft roll will be displayed on the notice boards of electoral registration officer, panchayat bhawans, urban local body offices, and the offices of block development and panchayat officers to ensure public access to voter lists along with the probable reasons for non-inclusion.
He also informed that a dedicated helpline number, 1950, has been established in all district headquarters and constituencies. The helpline will function in two shifts from 7 am to 9 pm.
He clarified that if a voter is not present during the house-to-house survey, any adult family member may sign enumeration form and submit the form to the BLO.
The draft electoral rolls will be published on July 21.
Claims and objections may thereafter be filed from July 21 to August 20, and their disposal will be carried out from July 21 to September 18. The final electoral roll will be published on September 22.
