A purported video of Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Rai went viral on Friday in which he was heard making abusive remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Mahoba.

Congress chief Rai termed the video fake and AI-generated by BJP men, and said he would lodge a police complaint.

Rai told PTI that he is in Mahoba to meet a rape survivor. ''I have come to know about the video. It is fake and AI-generated by BJP men. I will lodge a police complaint once I reach Lucknow,'' he said.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath slammed him for the abusive remarks and said it's a deeply rooted political culture of Congress.

Adityanath said in a post on X, ''The indecent, unparliamentary and unforgivable remarks made by the Uttar Pradesh Congress president against respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji expose the Congress party's deeply rooted political culture.''.

The UP chief minister said earlier too, the Congress 'Yuvraj' had displayed the same lack of values through his conduct and statements.

The Congress has now reached the peak of frustration, desperation, negativity and political bankruptcy, he said.

The party is no longer even in a position to seek forgiveness from the people of the country, Adityanath said.

BJP spokesperson Rakesh Tripathi said, ''The Congress should be ashamed. The language being used by the Congress is deplorable. The party has crossed all limits of decency. There is a competition within the Congress to hurl abuses. The Congress will have to face the consequences of this.''
